Case of possible imprisonment of squatters from Greece

We are from the Koukaki Squats Community.
In 2017 we created a community of 3 squatted houses in the center of Athens, in the area of Koukaki. It was a militant political community that combined anarchist struggle with communal life. We lived there and organized our struggles there. We built public community structures. We fought on all fronts of the anarchist movement. We were also very much connected to the struggles in our neighbourhoods, in Koukaki, Petralona and Theseio.
We faced arson attacks by fascists and a total of 6 evacuations by the Greek police. In 2020 the Greek state managed to defeat our community and take over the buildings. Our resistance was militant every time the state attacked. So far the courts of many of the evacuations have been held. In some evacuations they failed to catch us, in some many people were arrested. In some we were acquitted while in some we got sentences.
Some are not over yet. From all the courts we have a huge debt of up to 30 thousand euros.
Last year was the most difficult court. It was the repossession of the building of 45 Matrozhou, 11 January 2020. The police attacked immediately. The resistance was so combative that even the Prime Minister of the country called for our imprisonment for attempted murder against police officers. It was one of the most dynamic resistances against the New Democracy regime, which at the time was attacking all squats and the movement. In court, 4 of our comrades were sentenced to 6.5 years in prison.
Our lawyers appealed so that the case could go to a higher court. Our comrades did not go to jail until the next higher court. Next year, that court will be held and 4 of our comrades are in danger of going to jail.
They will probably be the first squatters to go to prison in Europe.
For us the imprisonment of our comrades is not only about militant resistance but because they are anarchists and together with the community we have done a great work for the movement and our neighbourhood.
We want to prepare the movement in Greece and Europe to support us so that our comrades are not imprisoned. Or if they do go to jail, the movement in Greece and Europe to give some strong answers.
