Solidarity with 7 of the wanted “Budapest antifas,” who turned themselves in!

On December 20, 2025, seven of the antifascists that are wanted by the Hungarian and German police in the Budapest case turned themselves in in Germany after two years of hiding underground. They published a statement underlining their antifascist attitude. The few comrades that have remained underground also published a statement in which they expressed their solidarity with the people that went to prison and defended their decision to not join them.

As of now, we have 11 prisoners that are accused in the Budapest case – Maja in Hungary, Gino in France and 9 people in Germany. The prisoners in Germany and France are threatened with extradition to Hungary where they may be sentenced to 20+ years in prison. (In December, the Hungarian state attorney offered Maja “only” 14 years against a deal and demanded a regular sentence of more than 20 years.)

Many solidarity protests have already taken place and more will follow.

This is a rough translation of the comrades’ statement (their original text here: https://www.basc.news/erklaerung-der-7-aufgetauchten-antifaschistinnen/ )

Statement of the 7 anti-fascists who have emerged

We have turned ourselves in

As some wanted anti-fascists, we turned ourselves in today at various locations in Germany. We do not know whether the German authorities will extradite us to the right-wing authoritarian government of Hungary. The potential willingness to extradite us is an expression of a transnational hunt for anti-fascists. The German and Hungarian authorities are willing to crack down on anti-fascist practice.

The accusation of attempted murder, which is being made against some of us by the Federal Public Prosecutor, is a politically motivated escalation and can hardly be surpassed in ridiculousness. Like the accusation of association, it serves to deter and legitimize action against anti-fascist practice. It is obvious that the current anti-fascist movement is not aimed at killing Nazis – and the Attorney General is aware of this.

We stand in solidarity with all our co-defendants, whether in custody or out there. We wish you strength for all that lies ahead. Just as the authorities have not succeeded in taking away our freedom or cornering us in the last two years, they will not succeed in breaking our convictions, dividing us or playing us off against each other in the years to come. We stand with all anti-fascists who are committed to a world free from oppression, exploitation and violence. Do not be discouraged by the often oppressive conditions!

We would like to thank everyone who has supported us on our journey so far. Your solidarity and your attitude give us courage and confidence for everything that lies ahead of us.
